I want to give you some informations about this pattern ;

Skill Level: Beginner
This pattern is written in US terminology.
All pieces are worked in the round unless stated otherwise. Instructions provided are to make the green prinsesstarta.

Tools & Materials:
Recommended hook size: 2.5mm
Yarn: Yarn & Color Must Have Cotton
Lettuce approx. 15g
Pastel Pink approx. 5g
White approx. 10g
Taupe <5g Peony
Leaf – left overs
Black thread
Toy stuffing
Tapestry needle
Stitch marker
8mm oval safety eyes
Cardboard (a piece of an old cereal box is perfect)

Sizes: the finished cake is approx. 8cm tall and will sit in the palm of your hand when made with the stated yarn and hook

The Cake Top
Make in Lettuce.

1- Sc x 6 in to MR (6)
2- BLO, Inc x 6 (12)
3- BLO, (Sc, Inc) x 6 (18)
4- BLO, (Sc x 2, Inc) x 6 (24)
5- (Sc x 3, Inc) x 6 (30)
6- Sc x 2, Inc, (Sc x 4, Inc) x 5, Sc x 2 (36)
7- (Sc x 5, Inc) x 6 (42)
8- Sc x 3, Inc, (Sc x 6, Inc) x 5, Sc x 3 (48)
9- (Sc x 7, Inc) x 6 (54)

11-21. Sc x 60 (60) 11 rounds
SS in to the next stitch, cut the yarn and pull through. Weave in the loose end to
secure it.
You will have 36 open loops at the top of the cake.
The safety eyes are inserted between r16-17 7 stitches apart.
With your black thread embroider a smile 3 stitches wide over r 16-17. Small eyelashes are embroidered at the top of
each eye. Small eyebrows are embroidered above the eyes on r12.
With pastel pink embroider the cheeks on either side of the eyes.

The Base
Make using White.

2- Inc x 6 (12)
3- (Sc, Inc) x 6 (18)
4- (Sc x 2, Inc) x 6 (24)
5- (Sc x 3, Inc) x 6 (30)
6- Sc x 2, Inc, (Sc x 4, Inc) x 5, Sc x 2 (36)
7- (Sc x 5, Inc) x 6 (42)
8- Sc x 3, Inc, (Sc x 6, Inc) x 5, Sc x 3 (48)
9- (Sc x 7, Inc) x 6 (54)
10- Sc x 4, Inc, (Sc x 8, Inc) x 5, Sc x 4 (60)
Secure your work on a stitch marker. Cut a circle of cardboard which is just slightly
smaller than your base.
We will now join the base and the cake together. Remove your stitch marker and place the loop back on your hook.
11- Insert your hook through the back loop of the next stitch on the base. Then insert your hook through both loops on r 21 of the cake. Make a single crochet.

Keep joining the cake top and the base together in this fashion. Once you are about half way round place the cardboard disk inside and stuff the cake.

Continue to make single crochets across both layers until the cake is closed. (60)
SS in to the back loop of your first Sc.

12- (Ch 3, SS in to the 3rd Ch from your hook, skip the next stitch, Ss in the BLO next stitch) x 30 Fasten off and weave in the loose end of yarn to secure it.
If the frills of r 12 are not wanting to point upwards they may be sewn to the cake with either white yarn or thread.

The Rose
We will work in the open loops on the cake top. Start from the outer edge of the spiral and work inwards.
Attach pastel pink yarn to the open loop on the top of the cake & Ch 1.

Hdc in the next stitch, SS) x 3 (Sc, make 2 Hdc in the next stitch, Make 3 Dc in the next stitch, make 2 Hdc in the
next stitch, SS) x 3 Make 2 Hdc in the next stitch, make Hdc & Dc in the next stitch, make Dc & Hdc in the final stitch.
Fasten off and weave in the loose end to secure it.

The Leaf
Make in Peony Leaf.
Ch 4, Sc in the 2nd Ch from your hook. Make 2 Hdc in the next Ch, Ss & fasten off. Leave a tail of yarn for sewing the leaf just under the rose.

Chocolate Sauce
Using Taupe Yarn Ch 29
Sc in the 2nd Ch from your hook, Sc x 3, Inc x 2, Sc x 8, Dec x 2, Sc x 4, Inc x 2, Sc x 4
Fasten off. Leave a long tail of yarn & use this to attach to the front of the cake top, just under the rose.

Your Prinsesstarta is now complete!
