I want to give you some informations about this pattern ;

Supplies

– Aran yarn
+/- 200g dark grey
+/- 50g light grey
+/- 50g mustard
– small amount of pink
– safety nose
– pair of safety eyes
– 4mm hook (for the entire reindeer)
– 5mm hook (for the booties and cowl)
– Scissors
– Tapestry Needle
– Polyester fibre fill

Abbreviations

– CH – Chain
– SL ST – Slip Stitch
– SC – Single Crochet
– DC – Double Crochet Stitch
– Inc – Increase- make two single crochet stitches in the same stitch
– Dec – Decrease- Crochet two stitches together using the decrease method
– FPDC – Front Post Double Crochet
– BPDC – Back Post Double Crochet

All parts of Murphy are worked in continuous rounds. When working in double crochet, the 2 chain at the start of each round, does not count as the first stitch.

Gauge and Tension
If using aran weight yarn, the final reindeer should be approximately 40cm from top to bottom. With the widest part of the head being approximately 12cm. 22st = 10cm

Eye Patches
(In light grey)
Rd 1: In a magic circle, CH 2, DC 10. SL ST to join (10)
Rd 2: CH 2, DC inc in each stitch. SL ST to join (20)
Rd 3: CH 2, [SC 1, SC inc]x5, HDC 1, HDC inc, DC 1, DC inc, TR inc, TR inc, DC inc, DC 1, HDC inc,HDC 1,SL ST to join. (30)
Yarn off and leave a long tail to attach the cheek to the head. Make TWO
OPTIONAL: for extra texture you can SC all around the edge of the patch with a fluffy yarn, I used Sirdar Snuggle Bunny yarn.

Cheeks
(in pink)
Rd 1: In a magic circle, CH 2, DC 9, SL ST to join.
Yarn off and leave a long tail to attach the cheek to the head. Make TWO

Head
(In Dark Grey)
Rd 1: SC 8 in a magic circle (8)
Rd 2: SC inc in each stitch (16)
Rd 3: [SC 1, SC inc]x8 (24)
Rd 4-7: SC in each stitch around (24)
Rd 8: [SC 2, SC inc]x8 (32)
Rd 9: [SC 3, SC inc]x8 (40)
Rd 10: [SC 4, SC inc]x8 (48)
Rd 11: [SC 5, SC inc]x8 (56)

Rd 13-28: SC in each stitch around (64)
Stitch up a three point star for the mouth with the center of the star being the center of the magic circle. Attach the safety nose at the top of the center point. (see image below)

Attach eye patches from row 5, about 5 stitches across above the nose.
Attach safety eyes to the eye patches, placement should be slightly off center from the patch towards the nose. (see mage below)
I added some eyeshaping/needle sculpting to the face before attaching the eyes.

Start firmly stuffing the head with hypoallergenic polyfill.
Rd 33: [SC 2, SC dec]x8 (24)

Rd 35: SC dec in each stitch (8)
Add last bit of polyfill stuffing and yarn off. Weave ends through the 8 stitches and pull tight, yarn off and weave in the tail.

Ears
Rd 1: SC 9 in a magic circle (9)
Rd 2: [SC 2, SC inc]x3 (12)
Rd 3: [SC 3, SC inc]x3 (15)
Rd 4: [SC 4, SC inc]x3 (18)
Rd 5: [SC 5, SC inc]x3 (21)
Rd 6-10: SC in each stitch around (21)
Yarn off, and leave a long tail to sew the ear to the head. Make TWO

Horns
The horns are made up of two pieces.
Point 1
Rd 1: SC 8 in a magic circle (8)
Rd 2-10: SC in each stitch around (8)
Rd 11: [SC 1, SC inc]x4 (12)
Rd 12-13: SC in each stitch around (12)
Point 2
Rd 1: SC 8 in a magic circle (8)
Rd 2-5: SC in each stitch around (8)

Rd 6: HDC in the first 4 stitches. Yarn off, leave a long tail.
Stuff both points with polyfill. Attach point two to point one about half way up point one.

Legs & Body
Legs (in dark grey)
Rd 1: SC 8 in a magic circle (8)
Rd 2: SC inc in each stitch (16)
Rd 3-25: SC in each stitch around (16)
Make two. Do not yarn off on the second leg.
Body
Chain 5 and sl into the top of the first leg.

Rd 1: SC in each stitch around (44)
Rd 2-20: SC in each stitch around (44)
Stuff both of the legs with polyfill and stuff half the body
Rd 21: [SC 9, Dec]x4 (40)
Rd 22: [SC 8, Dec]x4 (36)
Rd 23: [SC 7, Dec]x4 (32)
Yarn off and leave a long tail to attach the head to the body.

Belly Patch
Rd 1: Chain 6 ,5 DC in the 3rd chain from the top, DC in the next two stitches, 5 DC in the last chain st. 2 DC on the underside of the chain, SL into the first DC to create an oval shape. (14)
Rd 2: Ch 2 2 DC in each of the next 5 stitches, DC in each of the next two stitches, 2 DC in each of the next 5 stitches, DC in each of the next two stitches, SL into the first DC to create an oval shape.(24)
Rd 3: Ch 2 [1 DC, DC inc]x5, 2 DC, [1 DC, DC inc]x5, 2DC, (40)
Yarn off and leave a long tail to attach the patch to the body.

Arms
Rd 1: SC 7 in a magic circle (7)
Rd 2: SC inc in each stitch (14)
Rd 3-5: SC in each stitch around (14)
Change colour
Rd 5-25: SC in each stitch around (14)
Yarn off and leave a long tail to attach the arms to the body. Make two.

Tail
Rd 1: SC 8 in a magic circle (8)
Rd 2: SC inc in each stitch (16)
Rd 3-5: SC in each stitch around (16)
Yarn off and leave a long tail to attach the tail to the body.

Booties
Rd 1: DC 9 in a magic circle (9)
Rd 2: DC inc in each stitch (18)
Rd 3-4: DC in each stitch around (18)
Rd 5-7: [DCFP, DCBP]x9 (18)
Yarn off and weave the tail in. Make two.

Chain 30, leave a long tail on either end. Make two small pom poms by wrapping yarn around your fingers approximately 30 times.
Attach each pom pom to the end of each side of the chain.
Attach this chain to the front of the bootie.

Cowl

Chain 40, SL ST into the first chain
Rd 1: Chain 2 (this chain does not count as the first stitch) DC in each stitch
around, SL ST into the first stitch (40)
Working in the round:
Rd 2-9: CH 2, [DCFP, DCBP]x20 (40)
Yarn off and weave the tail in.
Chain 30, leave a long tail on either end. Make two small pom poms by wrapping yarn around your fingers approximately 30 times. Attach each pom pom to the end of each side of the chain. Attach this chain to the front
of the cowl.
