Materials:
– 3.00mm hook/C-2 (US)
– 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted > 70g yarn in ORANGE, less than 50g yarn in WHITE and BLACK
– Scissors
– Tapestry needle
– Polyester toy stuffing
– Plastic safety eyes (optional)
– Stitch marker (optional)
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
MR = magic ring
sc = single crochet
inc = single crochet increase (2 sc in one stitch)
dec = decrease (sc 2 together)
sl st = slip stitch
BLO = back loops only
(..) = repeat the space in brackets the given number of times
[..] = total number of stitches
Notes:
– A yarn with no stretch is best for amigurumi, I ordinarily use cotton.
– When changing colour, pull through new colour on the last stitch of the roud prior.
– Amigurumi is stitched in the round (unless it says otherwise).
– For this pattern, the following yarns were used:
o ORANGE = Scheepjes Stonewashed in Colour 834 Morganite
o WHITE = Stylecraft Classique DK in Colour 3660 White
o BLACK = Scheepjes Stonewashed in Colour 829 Obsidian
– Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of the finished item. My Fiero is approximately 27cm tall (10 ½ inches).
– Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight to keep stuffing from showing and for any attachments (ie safety eyes) to stay in place.
– I have used plastic safety eyes but you may choose to embroider the eyes. Please ensure
that there are no loose fittings.
